The Geneva Council for Rights and Liberties expresses grave concern over the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where thousands of families are now deprived of the basic means for survival due to ongoing conflict, restrictions, and the collapse of essential infrastructure.
Recent reports from the ground indicate that the majority of Gaza’s population faces acute shortages of food, clean water, medicine, and shelter. The Council’s monitoring teams have documented widespread destruction of homes, schools, and hospitals, leaving civilians—particularly children, women, and the elderly—exposed to life-threatening conditions.
Families in Gaza are enduring unimaginable hardship. The deprivation of food, water, and medical care constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human rights and international humanitarian law,” said a spokesperson for the Geneva Council for Rights and Liberties. “The international community must not turn a blind eye to this unfolding tragedy.
The Geneva Council urges all parties to the conflict to respect their obligations under international law, including the immediate facilitation of humanitarian access and the protection of civilians. The Council also calls on the United Nations Human Rights Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to intensify efforts to monitor the situation, press for accountability, and coordinate an effective humanitarian response.
The Geneva Council further appeals to donor governments, humanitarian agencies, and civil society to mobilize urgently needed resources to address the crisis and support Gaza’s most vulnerable.
As an independent organization dedicated to the promotion of a universal, value-driven human rights system anchored in equity, non-discrimination, inclusiveness, and solidarity, the Geneva Council will continue to advocate for the rights and dignity of all people affected by conflict and deprivation.
