President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has consistently condemned the international community’s silence in the face of Gaza human rights violations, describing it as a “dark stain in history”. He has argued that the world is witnessing genocide and war crimes in Gaza, yet global institutions and powers remain passive.

“The world is watching the genocide in Gaza in full view, yet remains silent. This silence is not just complicity; it is a betrayal of universal human rights values,”

Erdoğan stated, emphasizing that the crisis is not isolated but part of a broader pattern of violations across conflict zones such as Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia.

The Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza

The scale of suffering in Gaza has been described as catastrophic, with Erdoğan citing figures of over 70,000 killed, including more than 20,000 children.

“Every hour, another child is murdered by Israeli forces,”

 he said, calling Gaza the

“largest cemetery for children and women in the world”.

These statements reflect the urgency and gravity of the humanitarian situation, which has been corroborated by organizations like Amnesty International, concluding that Israel has committed and continues to commit genocide in Gaza.

Türkiye’s Diplomatic Approach

Türkiye’s foreign policy under Erdoğan has been peace- and justice-oriented, advocating for a ceasefire and a two-state solution.

“Türkiye’s approach is peace- and justice-oriented. We will continue to support the Palestinian cause and work towards a just and lasting peace,”

Erdoğan asserted, calling on the United Nation and other international bodies to take concrete steps to end the violence and uphold human rights. His calls for reform of the rules-based international system highlight a broader vision of inclusivity and fairness, free from double standards.

Criticism of International Inaction

Erdoğan has criticized the United Nation and Western governments for their failure to act, accusing them of ignoring human rights violations due to double standards.

“The blood being spilled is Muslim blood, and the world chooses to ignore it. This is not just about Gaza; it is about justice for all oppressed peoples,”

he declared, emphasizing that the international system must be reformed to protect the rights of all, not just the powerful. His remarks reflect a deep frustration with the lack of accountability and the selective application of human rights principles.

Broader Implications for Human Rights

The crisis in Gaza has broader implications for the global human rights agenda, according to Erdoğan.

“The violations in Gaza are not just a local issue; they undermine universal human rights values. The world must act to protect the rights of all, regardless of religion or nationality,”

he stated, calling for a more equitable international order. His analysis highlights the urgent need for global action to prevent further atrocities and hold perpetrators accountable, not only in Gaza but across conflict zones.

From Inaction to Accountability

Erdoğan’s call for justice in Gaza and beyond is a powerful reminder of the need for global action.

“The world must act to prevent further atrocities and hold perpetrators accountable. This is not just about Gaza; it is about justice for all oppressed peoples,”

he emphasized, urging the United Nation and all stakeholders to move from inaction to accountability to uphold human rights and dignity for all.
