(GCRL published report on the 42nd regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Geneva Council for Rights and Liberties (GCRL) published report on the 42nd regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) that took place on 9-27 September 2019. The report gives a general overview of the several segments of the HRC 42 session with the focus on CGRL activities. GCRL contributed to this session with oral statements, organised side events and participation in various HRC activities. On 18 September, GIRL organised side-event on “Stateless persons in MENA region”, with the collaboration of the International Eurasia Press Fund and International Institut for Rights and Development, included interventions by the representatives of the Gulf Centre for Human Rights and the United Towns Agency for North-South Cooperation. During this side-event, GCRL presented newly published report “Bidoons in the United Arab Emirates: deprived of life and death”. On 25 September, GCRL in cooperation with the United Towns Agency for North-South Cooperation and Congres of Tebu organised side-event at the sidelines of this session on ‘Tebu: Libyan tribes in the shadows of war and peace” that focused on persecution of this tribe in Libya. On 20 September, GCRL participated in UPR review of Qatar and made relevant recommendations.
