GENEVA – Fifteen international human rights organizations, including the Geneva Council for Rights and Liberties have requested the European Parliament to hold a hearing on interference of France in illegal and destructive manner and in contradiction with EU policies on civil war in Libya
In a letter to the President of the European Parliament on behalf of these organizations, David Sassoli referred to the report of New York Times as of 9 July stating that a shipment of sophisticated US missiles sold to France was found in the possession of rebel fighters loyal to General Khalifa Hafter ”
The letter pointed out that the seizure of these weapons, which were sold to France in 2010 in rebel camps in Libya, is an alarming neglect of international law provisions with serious consequences in terms of the European accountability to Libya
