Paris- Francophone Paris Institute for Freedoms called on the UAE and Saudi Arabia to immediately deliver aid to cyclone victims in Yemen.
The Paris Institute, an international human rights organization, said in a press statement that the siege of the UAE and Saudi Arabia imposed several months ago on Yemen prevents the entry of aid to cyclone victims in the country, especially in Socotri.
The institute said the Saudi-led coalition should end restrictions on food and fuel imports through Yemen’s commercial ports with another 10 million likely to be at risk of starvation by the end of the year.
He pointed out that Yemen is witnessing the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. There are about 8.4 million people suffering from severe food shortages and facing the threat of famine. There is serious concern about the recent decline in food imports through ports overlooking the Red Sea under pressure on the currency and liquidity crisis in the Yemen’s banking system which limits the ability of traders to import.
He pointed out that the Saudi-UAE-led coalition imposed a blockade on Yemen’s ports for several weeks at the end of last year, claiming it was aimed at preventing the Huthis from bringing weapons, which had a severe impact on Yemen, which imports 90% of its food.
The Paris-based Francophone Institute for Freedoms called for immediate international intervention to help the Yemenis suffering from the scourge of fighting and plans to divide and, above all, a devastating hurricane, which requires a first step to increase commercial imports of food, fuel and humanitarian supplies across all Yemeni ports.
